Meet the Creative Team
Chase The Drummer
Creative Co-Director, Percussion
Chase The Drummer, the real life psychotic madman playing the ficticious psychotic madman Dead Grotti, has lead a strange life. His birth was herald by hurricane Hugo, which destroyed much of the surrounding area of his birth. Only a few years after being welcomed into the world by a Halloween themed apocalypse, he found himself near Seattle strangely at the time of Kurt Cobain's death. Those who would prefer to view the world as a much more magical place than it actually is might not find it entirely coincidental that upon discovering the spiritually soothing properties of artistic expression and the joys of performing in his early adolescence, the tropical island he was living on at the time promptly didn't suffer a massive volcanic eruption.
Childhood bands aside, Chase has performed with a variety of different acts and genras. The more serious projects prior to Vetus Morbus are as followed...
6Bit: Industrial Goth Metal
Warm Beer Tragedy: Southern Hard Rock
The Quintessential Oddities: High Energy Art Punk
Kevin/The Posts: Progressive Blues Rock
Jay Wagnon
Creative Co-Director, Vocals, Violin
Born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, Jay began taking Suzuki Method violin lessons at the age of eight. He has been in a number of orchestras since then, including The Lafayette Community Orchestra, UL Lafayette Symphony Orchestra, UL Chamber Orchestra, and the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. After graduating high school in 2013, and two years of college, he moved to New Orleans as an artist by trade until opportunity brought him back to Lafayette. Picking up the electric violin and experimenting with the limits of sound it can create, he soon met Chase Delino. Together, they began to write songs and there they birthed Vetus Morbus. Using his background of classical music and song writing, creating Vetus Morbus became an exploration of genres and aesthetics, character studies, cabaret, queer living, and the spirit of punk.
Jacob Thibodeaux
Bass Guitar
Born in the foul-smelling cajun outback known as New Iberia, Jacob grew up with drunkards and was perpetually surrounded by dad music. He then decided to rebel, and began fueling his teenager angst with metal and bass. As the years went on, he broadened his horizons to progressive, psychedelic, indie, and doom, even learning acoustic and electric guitar in the process. Working retail and offshore further fed into his desires to make it big. Chase Delino then arose from Hell and befriended him, leading to his first break with The Quintessential Oddities. After that fleeting nightmare, Vetus Morbus was birthed into the universe. Taking Blake's place as their new permanent bassist he has never fit in so well, and holds high hopes for this fresh eldritch adventure.
